Know Your Options

Refer to theuniversity catalogfor comprehensive information on your program, including any concentrations or emphasesand track options.

Develop a Plan

Meet with or contact your program advisor oracademic departmentto map out your class schedule and sequence for completing your program, if you havenot already received advising from your academic department. You’ll also find outwhich class(es) would be required or best to take during your first term.

Once you’re ready to register for your first class(es), go to your APU student accountathome.apu.eduand log in using your APU NetID and password. Follow theseClass Registration Instructions(PDF).

Getting Started

Applying for financial aid? If you are a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or an eligiblenon-citizen and have a valid Social Security number, the first thing you’ll need tocomplete is theFree Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Visit Graduate and Professional Student Financial Services to walk through the financialaidapplication process.

Be sure to familiarize yourself with your program costs as well as any fees to ensureyou’re applying for the right amount of financial aid. View a complete list oftuition costs and fees.

Financial Aid Opportunities

Institutional and Outside Scholarships

Many departments or individual programs offer scholarships for their students. Visityour program website or contact your admissions representative to learn more aboutwhat scholarship opportunities may be available to you. You can also visit Graduateand Professional Student Financial Services to learn moreabout program-specific aidas well asschool-specific outside aid resources.

Federal Loans

APU students can also take advantage of federal loans (Federal Direct Stafford Loanand Federal PLUS Loan). Many of these loans offer up to the cost of your attendanceminus any other financial aid you may be receiving. Students can also opt to receiverefunds if their loans cover more than the cost of their courses. Learn more by visitingGraduate and Professional Student Financial Services.

Making Payments

APU offers a variety of options for payment—all to help make paying for your degreeeasier. We have outlined thepayment processfor your convenience.

Take a moment to sign up for or check off these resources that apply to you beforestarting your first class.

Campus Store

Start your first class prepared by ordering your books online from theCampus Store. Two weeks before the start of your class, you can enter your Course ID number onthe campus store website to find the required books. Instead of waiting until thefirst day of class to find your required materials on the syllabus, you'll have yourbooks in hand, and be off to a great start to your graduate or professional program.

Student ID Card

Student ID cards are issued by the One Card Office. Visit the Student Services Centerwebsite for completeinstructions to submit your ID card request.

Now that you're a student at Azusa Pacific, you can request your student photo IDcard. You'll be able to load funds on your card and use them at the eateries on APU'sAzusa campus, at the libraries, and the Campus Store. ID cards may also be requiredat campus sporting events.

Parking Permit

All graduate and professional students, regardless of location and course load (exceptonline programs), are required to register their vehicles with theDepartment of Campus Safety. As required, a parking permit will be issued to the student and must be appropriatelydisplayed to allow for parking at any of the APU facilities.

Complete Campus Safety'sonline vehicle registrationand you will receive your parking permit in the mail. Parking permits are valid forthe academic year (September–August).

Azusa Campus Graduate Parking Fee

  • All graduate and professional studentsattending the Azusa campus and registeringa vehicle will be charged a parking fee that will be placed on their student account.
  • View the current list ofparking permit charges.
  • Azusa campus parking permit fees are billed each fall and spring; there is no chargefor summer parking.
  • The parking fee does not apply to students in summer intensive programs such as theMaster of Fine Arts, theMS in College Counseling and Student Development, thePhD in Higher Education, theEdD in Higher Education Leadership, theField-based MA in TESOL, and theField-based Certificate in TESOL.

University Libraries

As an APU student, you have access to theuniversity libraries, which include three libraries on the university's Azusa campus, the regional campuslibraries, and more than 100 online databases. You can check out materials, placesholds in the library catalog, check your online library account, access online librarydatabases, and request materials through LINK+ or interlibrary loan. Call (626) 815-3847to request that a patron record be created for you in order to access these services.

You’ll need a patron record to access these services, which is usually created foryou by the libraries at the start of your first term. Confirm that you have a patronrecord by logging in to your library account athttp://patris.apu.edu/patroninfowith your APU NetID and password. If you encounter an error message, the librarieswill be notified and a patron record will be created for you, usually within a fewhours. You can also call (626) 815-3847 to request that a patron record be createdfor you.

Academic Resources

TheAcademic Success Centerprovides support to APU students through a variety of services and programs designedto promote academic success.

TheWriting Centercoaches APU students to improve their writing. The center assists all APU studentsworking on any kind of writing project at any stage of the writing process. The WritingCenter’sdedicated website for graduate studentscan help you navigate the challenges of working and writing at the graduate levelwith helpful articles, tips, and personalized advice.

Student Health Insurance

Graduate and professional students at APU have the option of purchasing student healthinsurance through the Student Services Center at the current health fee. APU studenthealth insurance is available to graduate and professional students who are enrolledat least half-time in an academic program. Students go throughGallagher Studentto use their benefits and receive services through a PPO physician in their area ormay opt in to pay a health services fee per term to use theAPU Health Center.
